In this workshop, you will learn about the importance of core muscles and gentle yoga. An MSK fitness instructor and an MSK yoga therapist will introduce you to safe, effective core strengthening movements, gentle yoga, and breathwork. They will teach you ways to move your body mindfully. The exercises you will learn can increase your overall physical strength, flexibility, and relaxation. You will have a deeper sense of body awareness, or how connected you feel to your body.
Developing body awareness is a helpful tool for coping with both physical changes and stress during and after your cancer treatment. Body awareness enables you to focus by building your mind-body connection. This workshop is open to people who are new to fitness and yoga, as well as to those who have a regular practice. It is accessible to all levels and abilities.
This class is open to people who have been treated for cancer and their caregivers.
