In reply to Dr. Morrow, could you explain by ahmed elmi
Ahmed, we are not able to answer individual medical questions on our blog. However, we did share your question with Dr. Morrow, and she said for patients whose tumors are found to have certain molecular characteristics, tamoxifen may prevent tumors from coming back in other parts of the body. Thank you for your comment.

I went into Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital after a questionable mammography done in New Jersey where they told me they would keep an eye on it and come back in 6 months for another check. Within two visits at Memorial Sloan Kettering, I was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma and was treated professionally, and educated along with given several choices by Dr. Monica Morrow. Dr. Morrow gives you a feeling of confidence and my aftercare with Dr. Morrow has been educational as well as they hold seminars giving you the latest information on cancer research and treatment.

I appreciated her comment about breast cancer being a highly treatable disease, that's a great positive statement to make up front. It does worry me that breast cancer is so prevalent that MSKCC needs TEN full time breast surgeons to help everyone. I would just add that it's so important for breast cancer patients to gather as much knowledge as they can about their diagnosis and suggested treatments. Knowledge is power and an empowered patient is much likelier to be a survivor. -- MarnieClark.com
