Thierry is originally from tiny Luxembourg. He moved to Freiburg in Southern Germany to study medicine and graduated in 2010. For his MD thesis, Thierry worked on the viral polymerase as a virulence factor for Influenza A Virus.  He completed his medical training in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf in Northern Germany and received a Master’s Degree in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. During his medical training, Thierry’s research focus was on side effects of antimalarial medications. In 2019, Thierry joined the Hohl lab for postdoctoral training to study the impact of the gut fungi on disease outcomes in stem-cell transplant patients. Outside of the lab, Thierry loves to spend time with his wife and two kids exploring New York City, discovering new food, and - if time permits - to ride his road bike.
