Changyu earned his undergraduate degree in Peking University in China, where he studied dietary restriction and aging in Drosophila. He performed his PhD research on obesity-related fatty liver disease in Dr. Utpal Pajvani’s lab at Columbia University in New York City. In the Lowe lab, he is studying the involvement and regulation of p53 in obesity-induced liver cancer.

Changyu enjoys music and live concerts, as well as complicated movies and TV shows. Even though he studies obesity-related problems, Changyu is also a foodie who takes advantage of the diverse cuisines NYC can offer.
