In high school, I had a few great science teachers who were very passionate about their subjects and put a lot of effort into trying to make their students interested in science. I realized that I like science because it allows me to find something that no one else knows. As a PhD applicant, you need to have a good idea of what a PhD entails, and make sure that you’re doing it for the right reasons. You have to persevere and let your enthusiasm shine through. And with Gerstner Sloan Kettering being in New York City, there is always something to be enthusiastic about. There’s something for everyone, and you never run out of things to do or see. You never get bored.
