Immuno-oncology is increasingly becoming an important therapy for a variety of cancers. As Head of the Division of Hematologic Malignancies and an Attending Physician of the Adult Bone Marrow Transplantation Service, I see patients undergoing a bone marrow transplantation. In my lab, I study novel strategies to improve immune therapies for cancer patients with a special emphasis on the role of the intestinal microbiome in (patho)physiology and therapy, Chimeric Antigen Receptor T cell therapy, and regeneration of thymic function to improve T cell immunity.

CAR T Cell Research Fellow
Generation and evaluation of CAR T cells engineered to treat multiple myeloma. The van den Brink lab at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is looking for a highly motivated post-doc to work on a project involving novel T cell immunotherapies for multiple myeloma. Our lab focuses on a variety of research topics related to cancer immunotherapy, including hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, graft-versus-host disease, effects of the microbiota on transplant outcomes, immune reconstitution/thymic rejuvenation strategies, and CAR T cell therapy for various malignancies.
Scientific Research Lead
The Molecular Microbiology Facility at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center seeks a Scientific Lead to coordinate the work of the facility. This will include testing and optimizing the best innovative microbiome technologies, implementing robotic liquid-handling and nucleic acid processing, overseeing process and quality control, interacting with laboratory and clinical researchers across a range of disciplines, facilitating computational analysis of data, and directing laboratory staff.
