Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) is a heterogeneous disease with respect to presentation and clinical outcome. A study led by researchers from the Memorial Sloan Kettering Leukemia Service reported the results of an analysis they performed of 18 genes in 398 previously treated AML patients. Findings suggest that mutational profiling can improve risk stratification and inform prognostic and therapeutic decisions regarding patients with AML.
