In this workshop, an MSK clinical fitness specialist will teach you breathing exercises to improve your posture and depth of respiration. You will learn how to strengthen the muscles you use for breathing, thus, improving your endurance during exercise. These activities will help you understand the power of your breath with rest and activity. You will also explore how to build strength, improve coordination, and maintain independence in performing activities of daily life.

Audience

This class is open to people who have been treated for cancer and their caregivers.

You Will Need:

  • A stable chair/non-rolling seat. Good options are a dining chair or a folding chair.
  • Enough space to reach your arms open to both sides
  • Elastic band: 3-4 feet long and 4-5 inches wide for stretching

What to Wear:  

  • A comfortable shirt so you can move your arms freely.
  • Comfortable pants (no tight waistband)

You Must Be Able To:  

  • Participate for the duration of the workshop
  • Standing to move is optional as movement from a chair is also acceptable.
