There are various pathways available to engage in research, clinical rotations, and specialized electives.

Training Opportunities

Bone Marrow Transplant Elective
We offer an elective for medical students on bone marrow transplantation and its role in treating hematologic diseases.

Clinical Problems in the Treatment of Breast Cancer and Solid Tumors (M-217)
Students will follow adult patients with breast cancer, including pretreatment evaluation, therapy and clinical trial selection, and post-therapy evaluation procedures.

Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism (M-118)
Students in this program participate in daily consultation rounds in endocrinology at Memorial Sloan Kettering and/or Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Clinical Nutrition (M-125)
Students in this program join an active consultative service encompassing various aspects of clinical nutrition, with emphasis on total parenteral nutrition, tubefeeding, and problems in malabsorption and malnutrition.

Gastroenterology
During this elective, students participate in various GI conferences, observe inpatient GI consultations by the fellows, participate in daily attending rounds, observe GI procedures, and attend outpatient clinic.

Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology (M-108)
Students in this program will see a variety of infectious diseases, including those complicating neoplastic disease, AIDS, and other conditions resulting in impaired host immune function.

Pulmonary Medicine (M-240)
This elective focuses on primary diagnosis and management of acute and chronic pulmonary illnesses, seen in both the inpatient and outpatient arena.

Renal and Electrolyte Disorders (M-141)
Students in this program are exposed to patients with disturbances in fluid and acid-base balance complex electrolyte abnormalities, as well as other renal diseases, and will learn about the evaluation and treatment of patients with acute renal failure, including dialysis and hemofiltration.

Residencies

Rotating Internal Medicine Residency Program
The Internal Medicine Residency Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is a joint program with house staff members who rotate in two- to four-week blocks to obtain exposure to quaternary oncology at a world class academic cancer center.

Medical Genetics Residency
The New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center jointly offer an ACGME-accredited two-year training program in Medical Genetics.

Oncology-focused Postdoctoral Training In Care Delivery and Symptom Science (OPTICS) Training Program (NCI T32)
Funded by a National Cancer Institute research training grant (1T32CA275764-01A1), the Oncology-focused Postdoctoral Training In Care Delivery and Symptom Science (OPTICS) Training Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) will mentor and train physicians and scientists with PhD/ScDs in social or quantitative sciences to conduct research focused on innovative cancer care delivery.
